Reality is in a Dream

I was really surprised how much I loved this book. The beginning was interesting but it didn't quite grab me at first. Once it did, however, it never let go.

Lily is just a normal teenage girl- that is, until she begins to dream of another life, another family. Struggling to live in the regular world with the people she thinks have raised her, yet somehow missing people she doesn't even know, life is anything but normal. Nothing is what she thinks it is. The only thing she knows for sure is that she is being watched by someone very dark and very powerful. She must figure out what is real and break free before something bad happens to her and the people that she loves.

I'm not big on dreams in books. They tend to break the action and pull me out of the story. That didn't happen at all in Reality. The dreams provided much needed background but they also helped us get to know and care about characters that we never really got to meet. That's not an easy thing to do but Ms. Mayhew did it beautifully.

The writing kept me enthralled and wanting to read more which is all I can ask of any book. At its heart, this book was romantic- about people trying to find their way back to each other. What better story is there than that? I can't wait to read more.
